10 Tips for Cheap and Free Starbucks Coffee

Starbucks is one of our most expensive addictions, even though it doesn’t have to be. We’ve found plenty of tips and tricks to show you how to save on your favorite drink and even get a free drink.

If you’re the type of person who’s been waiting all year for a pumpkin latte (or, as true fans call it, a PSL) and can’t stop wanting one, then this guide is for you.

If you only go to Starbucks once a month, this guide is for you too! There are no restrictions on depositing money.

Where there is a will, there is a way. In this case, there was a definite willingness, as we didn’t want to spend 58 (approximately) on drinks every time we left home. But luckily, as long as we use these Starbucks tricks, we’ll never have to do it again…

Here are the best ways to get free and cheap drinks at Starbucks…

  • Get Free Starbucks Coffee

One of our favorite Starbucks secrets is combining study and coffee. Is there a better way to take advantage of writing an entire paper in a day?

If you pay £1.55 for a drip coffee, you get unlimited free refills. If you show up in the morning and pay a one-time fee, you can keep pouring water for the rest of the day.

We took advantage of this trick when we were in college and the library was full, which meant we were studying at Starbucks all day.

  • Save money every time you buy a drink

We love the sound of saving money (and the environment) every time we buy a drink at Starbucks. All you have to do is bring your own reusable cup and have it filled with water for you instead of being given a disposable cup, and you get 25p off every time you go.

If you’re going to order a drink anyway, you’ll save even more. Starbucks now charges 5p per drink in a paper cup, so if you bring your own paper cup you can save 30p per drink.

Doesn’t sound like much, but when you buy a few drinks, you’ll have Saved up enough money for a free Starbucks.

We’re fans of the KeepCup and highly recommend picking up one of the discounted ones (one of us got one for £6, less than £22). That way, you’ll be satisfied that your coffee is plastic-free, and you won’t have to throw away the cup and lid after 30 minutes of use.

  • Free drinks with Starbucks loyalty card

The Starbucks Rewards Card is one of the best loyalty cards out there, and it’s completely free. If you use your rewards card to accumulate points every time you visit Starbucks, you’ll get a free drink every time you reach 150 stars.

For every £1 spent, you’ll earn three stars, so once you reach this level, your next drink will be free (hype).

If you don’t frequent Starbucks, you can always ask your friends and family to scan your card when they visit; you’ll get your free drink faster.

  • Free Starbucks on your birthday

Starbucks Rewards members who have reached Gold status can receive a free drink on their birthday. What a little extra treat.

To reach the gold level, you need to collect 450 stars. Since you get three stars for every £1 spent, you’ll need to spend a fortune to reach this milestone (£150 to be exact), so we definitely don’t recommend buying drinks. Fair But if you’re there (or close), it’s worth finding out what’s on offer.

If you haven’t had a party yet, we love birthday gifts. Not only do you get a full day of exclusive time, but you also get tons of freebies from the brand.

  • Add free syrup, coffee and whipped cream

When you reach the Gold level rewards (which, let’s be honest, you will), you’ll be able to get extra coffee, whipped cream, and syrup of choice for free.

Gifts are still gifts, no matter how small, and let’s be honest, these are pricey upgrades to your already pricey drink.

  • Buy three small drinks for the price of one

Sadly, we all know how expensive Starbucks is, especially if you’re craving a Frappuccino. But, as is often the case, it may be cheaper to opt for a larger drink.

We like to order the largest Frappuccino with two or three “tall” glasses on the side. This works well if several of you drink the same drink (or at least you can manage to get the same drink, since it’s cheaper), because you can pour the larger glass into the smaller one. Absolute winner!

Now all you have to do is argue over which drink to drink this time…

  • Get a Cheaper Iced Latte

A large iced latte will cost you an arm and a leg (or £2.85) these days, so it’s important to make the most of your missing limbs. And since you can’t substitute the taste of regular coffee shop coffee, the cheaper price is a big plus.

We recommend ordering a double espresso (£1.90), a glass of ice (free), and milk from the adjacent counter, which is also free.

This trick will save you almost £1 every time you order, so by the time you impromptu an iced latte for the third time, you’ve almost saved enough to buy a proper iced latte and make it completely Free (sort of).

  • Skip the line at Starbucks

Who wants to waste time queuing when you can order the exact drink you want and pay for it in the app?no one – then order in advance Skip lines.

All you have to do is download the Starbucks app and use it to order and pay for drinks. Then you just stand up and say the name on the order.

You go into the store, grab your drink, and it’s ready to go in about two minutes. Bish-Bash-Bosh.

  • Get Free Water at Starbucks

Don’t waste your hard earned maintenance loan on a bottle of water. Instead, ask behind the counter if you can drink some tap water.

they are technically not have They’ll give it to you when you ask for it, but 99% of the time they will. As long as you ask with a smile (or, worst case, justify your student status and open an empty wallet), you should be fine. Take a bite.

  • buy more booze with your money

have you ever thought that you are lose precious milliliters When you order a cold drink with ice from Starbucks?

You may only have a few sips, but if it’s your favorite drink, you’re probably craving extra liquid, and the best way to fix that is to order it without ice.

If you really want to have ice in your drink, ask for “light ice” or, after your drink is served, ask for a glass of ice. Take a few sips initially and then there is room for some ice cubes. You’re welcome.
