BROCKTON — A 15-year-old was shot and killed in Brockton Friday afternoon. The Brockton Police Department announced it arrested a 17-year-old on Saturday.
Jason Benson Green was known as the funniest kid in the room with the biggest smile who left a mark on everyone who loved him.
“He was goofy, always made you laugh, he looked a lot like Kevin Hart,” says Jason’s mom Pemi Benson, who is in disbelief after police say her son was shot to death on Lynn Street in Brockton in Friday around 3:30 p.m. shortly thereafter. school graduates.
“He loved to dance, joke, music, rap, draw. He loved his little brother. I’m going to miss him,” says Benson, who tells WBZ the most shocking part of her son’s death is the man who shot her son. was someone he considered a friend.
“Be careful about the people you call friends, be very careful because the person who shot him was actually his friend, be very careful,” Benson says.
Plymouth County Prosecutor Tim Cruz took to social media to announce the arrest of a 17-year-old in the shooting.

“There shouldn’t be kids touching guns, there shouldn’t be kids playing with guns or anything like that,” says Jason’s older cousin Kamari Green, who says he must have spent time with Jason in the days leading up to his death. , but never got the chance.
“I just talked to him last week, just talking about eventually coming to see him. I can’t do this anymore. It’s just crazy, everyone here is just grieving. His brother is a child, he doesn’t know anything. I wonder why everyone is here.”
The identity of the 17-year-old teenager has not been established.
Police have not said whether the shooting was intentional or accidental, and it is unclear who actually owned the gun.
Green’s family is asking for donations to help raise money for his funeral.
