In December 2020, Chrissy Teigen revealed on Instagram that she had made the decision to get sober after a fan commented on a post joking that she wanted “any drug” Teigen was using. The Cravings founder then responded, “4 weeks sober 💕🙏🏼💕🙏🏼💕.”

Later, the mother of two children said that she decided to quit drinking for various reasons. “A month ago on my birthday, I received this book from my doctor and friend,” Teigen shared on Instagram Stories on New Year’s Eve. “I was tired of making an ass of myself in front of people (I’m still embarrassed), tired of drinking during the day and feeling like crap by the age of 6, not being able to sleep. I’ve been sober since then.”

While attending the inauguration of Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in January 2020, Teigen shared her experience of being in Washington for the historic event, noting that being sober only enhanced the moment with husband John Legend and their two children, Luna and Miles.

“We ran up the stairs for this shot. It’s just incredible to be here. Sober,” she tweeted on January 20. “I know it’s strange, but for me it’s like… another world. Everything is new and better. Very happy. The happiest, very happy.”

In October 2023, Adele revealed that she had been sober for three months after drinking heavily in her 20s. The singer performed on stage at her Las Vegas residence after seeing audience members drink “a pint of whiskey” during her performance. “I quit drinking… maybe like three and a half months ago,” she said in a video posted to X, the social network formerly known as Twitter.

She admitted that it was not easy. The 35-year-old “I Drink Wine” singer admitted that she finds sobriety boring.

“It’s boring. I mean, oh god, it’s boring,” she said. “I was literally a borderline alcoholic for most of my 20s, but I miss it so much. I gave up caffeine (too).” Added: “So, enjoy your whiskey sour. I’m very, very jealous.”

In an interview with Variety on June 23, Miley Cyrus admitted that she has been sober for the past six months. The “Malibu” singer opened up about how the vocal surgery she underwent in November 2019 was the catalyst for her sobriety. Her post-surgery restrictions became a lifestyle choice, and as far as we know, Cyrus has yet to return to alcohol.

Instead of relying on substance use to have a good time, Cyrus made sure to have fun without overindulging in alcohol. And the main benefit she enjoys when it comes to sobriety: no hangover the next day.

“What I love about it is that I wake up 100%, 100% of the time,” she said, “I don’t want to wake up feeling groggy. I want to wake up feeling ready.”
