Baikal Electronics presented its new product strategy until 2025. The manufacturer intends to spend 23 billion rubles in the development of new product lines, as well as in increasing production.
The investments were obtained at the expense of the Baikal Electronics company itself, as well as government subsidies and debt financing.
The company plans to increase its total processor production from 130,000 in 2021 to 600,000 by 2025. The manufacturer will be the Taiwanese company TSMC.
It is also planned to switch to 12 nm and 6 nm process technology instead of 28 nm, as it was before. The next generation of the Baikal family will be based on the ARMv9 architecture:
- Baikal M2 for desktops and monoblocks,
- Baikal L for laptops and tablets,
- Baikal S2 for storage systems, servers, and supercomputers.
The statement of the general director of the company “Baikal Electronics” Andrey Evdokimov:
We are considering developing a new line of processors based on the open RISC-V architecture. Such solutions can be used in telecommunications equipment. The issue of creating a line of artificial intelligence accelerators is also being studied, both for work in data centers and for advanced processing on devices.
