On October 14, an X user posted a photo of T-shirts for sale at the Utah Arena on the platform, which triggered enthusiastic comments from jazz and sports fans. The post was seen by more than 1.2 million viewers before the team confirmed the shirt had been removed from Delta Center merchandise, the discount store. the report said. The long-running feud between Utah Jazz and Michael Jordan fans began in the 1990s, when the Chicago Bulls frequently faced off against the team in the NBA Finals, winning each meeting.
Led by Karl Malone and John Stockton, the Utah Jazz became a powerhouse in the Western Conference. However, Jordan and the Bulls’ dominance in the East kept them from taking home the Larry O’Brien Trophy twice.
Clearly the pain is still deep.
“This is a pretty frustrating choice,” said one X user. “Will he stop beating us one day?” another commented.
While Jazz fans found the jersey offensive, Jordan and Bulls fans found the merchandise ironically fitting.
“It looks historically accurate,” one comment read. “He and his team made back-to-back Finals appearances for the Jazz. Great. #GoBulls,” said another.
The Utah Jazz have struggled to return to glory in the years since their last trip to the Finals. However, their front office does have a winner, as Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade now owns a minority stake in the team.
