Mike Vrabel jokes that Tom Brady won’t attend HOF Awards, and here’s a funny reason

FOXBOROUGH — Mike Vrabel, notorious for his intelligence and on-field performance, will be inducted into the Patriots Hall of Fame on Saturday afternoon.

The Titans head coach knows he may be the target of some criticism, but he thinks everything will be fine “as long as I hold the mic at the end.” On 98.5 SportsHub Friday morning, Vrabel couldn’t help but crack a few jokes at the expense of a former teammate, Tom Brady.

“Tom texted to say congratulations, which I guess meant he wouldn’t be able to attend,” Vrabel said. “He may have had some makeup events planned but couldn’t do it on Saturday morning.”

Vrabel said the two did enjoy an interesting conversation, and he made sure to give his former quarterback some grief about how things were different.

“I texted him and said, ‘Remember when you used to be ruthless and just have that crap back and forth?'” Vrabel said. “That’s why we love coming to practice and working every day. Guys will be on the show team, talking back and forth, just competing and practicing. I was like… ‘When did you change?'”
