Providing breath of life and hope in the face of uncertainty is the mission of the respiratory therapy team Western Regional Hospital (Office of Human Resources Management)which is a huge support for pulmonologists and intensivists.

This approach focuses on restoring or preserving the function of the above systems after critical procedures and improving the patient’s quality of life. It uses different strategies to prevent, treat and stabilize cardiopulmonary disease in adults and children.

The HRO respiratory therapy department has become an essential component of patient care. It serves an average of 175 people a day, most of whom are in critical condition.

175 critically ill adults receive the above assistance every day.

The unit has become an essential part of patient recovery

The above units provide care for newborns arriving mainly with perinatal asphyxia. In pediatric patients, the most common cases are pneumonia and convulsive syndrome, while in adult patients, head trauma and cerebrovascular events are the most common.

“This unit is a highly complex service as we provide high-quality care to people with respiratory conditions. “In addition, we operate at different locations throughout the hospital through various processes such as receiving, assembling, drying and packaging prior to sterilization. The service distributes and supplies treatment equipment. “explains Eluvia Morales, interim head of the above-mentioned areas.

The clinic has 20 employees, including 10 respiratory therapists and 10 nursing assistants. “We are proud to join this team that is dedicated to caring for the health of our patients,” said Morales.

Providing timely and dignified assistance is part of the commitment of the Guatemalan government and the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance, which work tirelessly for the benefit of the Guatemalan people.
