Mexicali – The Baja California Government Workers and Municipal Security and Social Services Institute (ISSSTECALI) advises citizens to take preventive measures to avoid illnesses, mainly respiratory, caused by the drop in temperatures. in this area.

Angélica Pon Méndez, deputy medical director of ISSSTECALI, made the following health recommendations: Wear long-sleeved cotton clothes, avoid walking barefoot, eat more fruits rich in vitamin C (oranges, grapefruits, guavas), and drink plenty of water. Do not self-medicate.

He called on citizens to immediately go to a designated medical institution for treatment if they have symptoms such as itchy throat, eyes, headache, runny nose, frequent sneezing, watery eyes, red eyes, elevated body temperature or fever, so that medical staff can guide treatment.

He also pointed out that the main recipients of care are adults over 65 years old, children under 5 years old, pregnant women and people with allergies.

He noted that these people are susceptible to illnesses such as conjunctivitis (eye disease), otitis media (inflammation of the ears), the common cold, sinusitis, rhinitis, asthma and influenza.
