Cleveland Browns star Myles Garrett has purchased a minority stake in the Cleveland Cavaliers, The Athletic reports.
NFL-NBA News: Cleveland Browns All-Pro Myles Garrett purchased a minority stake in the Cleveland Cavaliers. He will also serve as the Cavaliers’ official brand ambassador.
It’s unclear exactly how many Cavaliers shares Garrett purchased, but Garrett is considered a huge basketball fan who often attends games. He participated in the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game in 2022 when the Cavaliers hosted the event.
In a statement released Wednesday, Cavaliers President and Governor Dan Gilbert said the team is honored to welcome Garrett to the team:
“Myers has become an icon in Cleveland as a leader on and off the field and shares our organization’s commitment to being a force for change throughout the region,” Gilbert said. “We are honored to welcome this long-time friend of the team to our of new partners and investors. “Miles’ passion and commitment to the city he loves will allow us to reach new communities and continue to build this franchise’s successful future. “
Garrett also expressed his excitement about joining the Cavaliers ownership group:
“Since my early days in Cleveland, I have admired the Cavaliers’ hard work, tenacity and dedication to the community,” Garrett said. “The opportunity to join this impressive and purpose-filled franchise under Dan’s leadership is truly a dream come true.”
