Colorado State stars Shaddell Sanders and Travis Hunter have taken the college football world by storm this season, but that doesn’t mean they’re no longer kids at heart.
After the Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets in their season opener in Denver, LeBron James approached Saunders and Hunter as they sat courtside. College standouts were in awe, with Sanders telling James he had to send them a jersey and Hunter squealing with excitement after getting engaged.
Sanders is organizing a potential Heisman finalist campaign. He passed for a total of 2,420 yards, 21 passing touchdowns, 3 interceptions, a passer rating of 160.3, and a pass success rate of 72.3%; Sanders also rushed for 3 touchdowns.
Hunter missed three games this season with a torn liver but dazzled in four games as a two-way player. As a wide receiver, Hunter has caught 29 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, as a defensive back, Hunter totaled one interception, two passes defensed and 14 tackles for loss.
Colorado (4-3 overall, 1-3 in Pac-12 play) is targeting a Week 9 matchup against No. 25 UCLA after outscoring Stanford 29-0 in the second half. Get back on track.
As for James, who is entering his 21st season in the NBA, the 19-time All-Star and future Hall of Famer had 21 points, eight rebounds, five assists and one assist in the Lakers’ opening loss to the Nuggets. Steals, 10 points from the field. of-16 (62.5%) came from the field.
