The president of the Saudi Professional League reportedly wants to meet representatives of Bruno Fernandes, who follows Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo joined Al Nasr in January following his controversial exit from Manchester United, kicking off a wave of high-profile stars heading to the Middle East. Since then, the likes of Neymar, Karim Benzema and Riyad Mahrez have signed big-money contracts in the kingdom.
Apart from Nasr, all of their respective clubs – Al Hilal, Al Ittihad and Al Ahly – are owned by the national Public Investment Fund, according to Italian journalist Rudy Galetti. The fund is already preparing for next summer’s transfer window.

He claimed they were interested in signing Fernandes for one of their four teams, putting him on their target list and intending to contact members of his entourage to arrange a meeting to negotiate.
If it is Nasr, Fernandez will be reunited with Portuguese teammate Ronaldo again at the club. Given that he is only 29 years old, this would be a major victory for the PIF.

Most of their signings have been players like Ronaldo who are nearing the end of their careers. However, it seems unlikely that they will reach an agreement with Fernandes.
Not only is he likely to reject the move, but Erik ten Hag will almost certainly block his exit. He signed a new contract last year that keeps him at Old Trafford until June 2026, with the option to extend for a further year.
Ten Hag welcomed his captain after Fernandes scored United’s winning goal against Fulham at the weekend. “From the moment I made him captain, he did it (win games),” he said.
“When he plays, he always gives energy and sets an example. You see the way he presses, the way he counterattacks.
“The way he got back to running the ball. He’s definitely been a role model and he’s been taking responsibility. Both on and off the field.”
“Not only is he responsible for scoring important goals, but he always wants to have the ball, always wants to create chances. I’m happy with my captain.”
