Nuggets’ Nikola Jokic jokes about passing Jason Kidd, LeBron James

Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic joked after surpassing Jason Kidd and LeBron James on the all-time triple-double list

On Monday night, Nikola Jokic accomplished another historic feat, becoming the fourth all-time leader in career triple-doubles. In the Denver Nuggets’ 134-116 victory over the New Orleans Pelicans, Jokic scored 35 points, 12 assists and 14 rebounds, surpassing Jason Kidd and LeBron James for personal No. 1 108 triple-doubles, ranking fourth. It was his third triple-double of the season, after falling just one assist shy of two straight games.

After his remarkable accomplishment, Jokic joked about passing LeBron on the list.

yes i passed Jason Kidd (fourth all-time with LeBron) triple-double list. This guy is still playing and I think he’s going to play a few more games,” Jokic said. “When I may stop playing basketball, (Brown) will still be there,” via NBA

Jokic currently trails only Magic Johnson, Oscar Robertson and Russell Westbrook on the all-time triple-double list. It will take a while for Jokic to overtake any of the three who are so far ahead. Johnson ranks third with 138 triple-doubles, Robertson ranks second with 181 triple-doubles, and Westbrook ranks first with 198 triple-doubles. His triple-double total is likely to increase.

What’s amazing is that Jokic is only 28 years old and has plenty of time to continue adding to his total. Although Nikola joked that LeBron James, who is almost 39 years old, also has a chance to catch up with Jokic and still continue to play, when all is said and done, Jokic is more likely to significantly surpass James.

Jokic and the Nuggets will next face the Golden State Warriors.
