The second edition of the show (13) kicks off a flu vaccination campaign ahead of winter in the Amazon. It should now be extended to December 15 and November 25 as the “D” days for vaccine mobilization.

This year’s change in the holiday calendar, with its tropical and Amazonian climate, differs from the rest of Brazil, which experiences another kind of season. We can also reduce complications, hospitalizations and deaths from influenza.

Symptoms include fever, chills, muscle aches, cough, congestion, rhinitis, headache and fatigue. The flu is a viral infection that also typically attacks the lungs, nose, and throat.

Priority groups for vaccination include:

  • Idosos over 60 years old
  • health worker
  • Children 6 months to under 6 years old
  • Pregnant and postpartum women
  • indigenous peoples
  • professor
  • People with comorbidities and people with permanent impairments
  • Road workers, collective transport workers, urban and long-distance passenger transport, port workers
  • Security and rescue force professionals
  • armed forces professionals
  • officials deprived of liberty
  • Population deprived of liberty over the age of 18, adolescents subject to socio-educational measures and people living on the streets.

Vaccination also helps protect those most vulnerable to severe influenza-related illness, such as severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS), as well as decompensation of pre-existing conditions that can lead to death.
