LeBron James’ shin/calf issue not serious; listed as day-to-day

The Los Angeles Lakers are dealing with multiple injuries to the team early in the 2023-24 season.

The Lakers lost Gabe Vincent and Jared Vanderbilt, while Hachimura was coming off a concussion. The team also saw Jackson Hayes miss one game with an ankle injury.

However, Los Angeles also saw LeBron James injured against the Phoenix Suns. James was hit in the calf area, which he later said hurt but never came loose.

The Lakers decided to play James against the Portland Trail Blazers because of pain, and Davon Hamm said he was considered day-to-day.

“He’s got some issues with his shine and he was injured last game. So just be proactive. We don’t want to put him in trouble so early, so this is an opportunity for him to get some treatment and not force it. So. He just takes it day by day.”

Hamm added that he didn’t think the injury was serious and the team thought it would be best to give him some rest before the upcoming game.

“I don’t think it’s a big deal. But the fact is, it’s causing a lot of discomfort in the sensitive areas of his lower body and giving him time to sit him down, deal with it and try to get him ready for the next game after this one. Getting ready for the game became a “top priority. “

Ultimately, Hamm said that because James takes such good care of his body, he and the team are not overly cautious in limiting him during the regular season. “It’s one of those things, I’ll say it again, the way he takes care of himself on every level relieves some of the stress and some of the worry.

“The biggest thing is he’s smart with his stretches. The total playing time will depend on the nature of the game, but the way we play against him and how we perform against him, those are things we have to pay attention to. And when you play in non- stuff he does on game day. But other than that, he’s probably the nicest guy I’ve ever met, and I’ve met some great people, but as far as his self-care and his knowledge of his body and his sleep habits Awareness-wise, he’s probably No. 1 in that area, eating habits, all of that. So when he can get on the same page with us on that, it helps us a lot.”

The Kings have successfully managed injuries over the years, so it stands to reason that he should be back on the court sooner.
