Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Nasr was involved in a fiery clash with Jordan Henderson’s Al Etifaq last month, but the former Manchester United superstar’s post-match actions said it all
Cristiano Ronaldo showed his classy side after a scuffle with Scotland international Jack Hendry saw the pair swap shirts during a heated match in Saudi Arabia.
On October 31, Ronaldo’s Al Nasr faced Hendry’s Al Etifaq, who played for former Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson, in the King’s Cup match. Hosts Al Nasr won 1-0 thanks to a late goal from Henderson’s former Liverpool teammate Sadio. Mane and superstar Ronaldo became furious at one point and got into an argument with Hendry, making an already heated incident even more heated.
Towards the end of the last 16, the pair battled fiercely for possession and ended up with their limbs tangled together. Ronaldo, who saw the game, felt he deserved a free kick and was furious with Hendry, but the five-time Ballon d’Or winner did not hold a grudge and handed the jersey to Hendry after the final whistle.
“It’s really good to play against these types of players,” Scotland centre-back Hendry, who is coached by Steven Gerrard at the Saudi club, explained to BBC Sport. “Ronaldo is obviously one of the best players in the world and what he has achieved is amazing.
“It’s always a pleasure to play against him and test yourself and have those battles. It was great to talk to him after the game and exchange jerseys. I’ll keep it for later!”

A year ago, Ronaldo left Manchester United and signed a huge contract with Al Nasr to become the face of Middle Eastern football, with an annual salary of approximately 173 million pounds. Hendry’s wages aren’t that high following his summer move from Club Brugge, but the 28-year-old still loves life in Saudi Arabia.
“I think if you look at the caliber of players, the league is going to continue to grow,” Hundley said. “As they look ahead to the 2034 World Cup (which Saudi Arabia will host), I think there will be a real drive to improve the game. I believe it will quickly become one of the strongest leagues in the world.”
Al Ettifaq are currently seventh in the Saudi Professional League standings, while Al Nassr are second, but four points behind favorites Al Hilal after 13 games. The schedule will be summarized next weekend after the international break.
