BRICS leaders unite with the Palestinian agenda: We will not leave the mediation task to the United States’ monopoly from Putin

The meeting, which was held via video conference, was attended by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa, Russian President Vladimir Putin, Brazilian President Lula da Silva, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Indian Foreign Minister Subramaniam Jaishankar, Argentine President Alberto Fernandez, and Iranian President Ibrahim Raissi. The meeting was attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, United Arab Emirates President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali, and United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.

He added: “During our presidency of the BRICS, we will begin contacts to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian problem.”

Speaking during the meeting, Putin reminded that the term of the BRICS presidency will be transferred to them starting in 2024. “My colleague just talked about the deaths of many children. This is terrible, but when you see surgeries being performed on children without anesthesia, it brings up bad feelings. The deaths of thousands of people, the mass displacement of the civilian population, and the resulting humanitarian catastrophe.” These are matters of great concern. We believe that it is very useful to continue the discussion within the BRICS group to prevent the Israeli-Palestinian conflict from escalating further. He added, “If there are no objections, we will begin contacts under the Russian presidency next year.” He said.

“The United States wants to monopolize the mediation mission.”

Putin stated that the United States is also responsible for the killing of civilians in the Palestinian territories. “All these events are a direct result of the United States’ desire to monopolize the role of mediator in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and obstruct the activities of the Quartet of international mediators in the Middle East.” He said.

“Russia’s position is firm and non-opportunistic.”

Pointing out that they do not have an opportunistic attitude towards this matter, Putin said: “Russia’s position is consistent and non-opportunistic. We call on the international community to make joint efforts to reduce violence, find a ceasefire and a political solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The BRICS countries and regional countries can also play a major role in this matter. Action.” He said.
