Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade gave a shout-out to his former teammate LeBron James for his performance during the Los Angeles Lakers’ win over the Houston Rockets on Sunday night.
James had a monster game for the Lakers, making the go-ahead free throw in the final seconds to seal the victory for the team. Wade is happy to see his former teammate playing at such a high level.
Despite entering his 21st season, James is still one of the best players in the NBA. He certainly proved that on Sunday, scoring 37 points on 14-of-19 shooting from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc. The four-time NBA champion also contributed six rebounds, eight assists and three steals in the Lakers’ victory.
James’ performance was mesmerizing, and Wade clearly noticed.
In the next game, James hit several winning games for Los Angeles. He led his team to a 100-98 lead with just over a minute left, then assisted Austin Reeves for a three-pointer with less than 30 seconds left to give the Lakers a three-point lead. James sealed the victory with a 1-for-2 shot from the charity stripe with 1.2 seconds left.
During Wade’s career, he and James were teammates in Miami and Cleveland. The two players are famous for teaming up with big man Chris Bosh to form the Big Three in Miami.
The team reached four consecutive NBA Finals during that period and won two of them. While James earned two Finals MVP awards in the win in Miami, there’s no doubt Wade had a huge impact on these playoffs.
So far this season, the Lakers are 8-6 with James and 6-1 at home, and James is a better case.
The NBA’s historical scoring leader averaged 26.4 points, 8.2 rebounds and 6.5 assists per game, shooting 58.6% from the field and 39.7% from beyond the three-point line.
It’s amazing that James is playing so well at his age that he easily surpasses Wade, who was already inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame after retiring a few seasons ago. Both players were selected in the 2003 NBA Draft, which shows how long James has dominated the NBA.
