Culiacan, Sinaloa – As temperatures drop, health authorities in the state expect an increase in respiratory illnesses that mainly affect children and the elderly who are most vulnerable to them.

Sinaloa State Health Minister Cuitláhuac González Galindo called on people to get flu vaccines and COVID-19 booster doses because these conditions affect people the most.

The head of health services at the unit said the most common diseases in winter are bronchitis and pneumonia, which must be treated to avoid complications.

“Bronchiolitis is going to happen, pneumonia is going to happen, upper respiratory illness is going to happen, it’s happening more frequently, and children and the elderly are most at risk,” González Galindo said.

The health minister advises that if people develop symptoms or respiratory problems, they should see a doctor and get treatment, and most importantly avoid self-medicating to avoid complications.
