“Alcatraz” is the title of the debut album by Modenese singer-songwriter Mariana De Mezzo aka “”.Middle“, on all digital platforms today.
As she herself declared, “Obviously I didn’t choose this title by chance, in fact already listening throughout the album you can see a constant call for freedom, wanting to feel free from a prison, Which can be the world, society, or sometimes even ourselves. Alcatraz alternates very deep and reflective lyrics with lighter ones, but even if the mood changes, this constant need to escape and find peace with ourselves remains, and accompanies us throughout the journey, perhaps it It turns out that the answer to all the questions we have always been on our side. Or at least it was that way for me.”
DiMezzo uses music as a means of freedom, as he writes in “Musica per Strada”, the single-manifesto of the entire album: “street music is the manifesto of Alcatraz, my first album. In the piece Music on the Street is a very simple but at the same time very powerful symbol of freedom. Feeling free, a theme that frequently returns throughout the album, becomes emblematic here. I’m looking for a way, I follow the instinct that, like music, saves me from this Alcatraz in which we all find ourselves trapped in other people’s expectations, a thousand commitments, decisions, and above all, the difficulty of understanding can be found. Feeling helpless, chained up. Finally I understand who my muse is on the street, who makes sense, who manages to escape me. But I won’t say anything more, I don’t want to reveal the ending.”
Biography
Mariana Di Mezzo, aka “Dimezzo”, born in 1999, was born and lives in a small town near Modena. Having a musician father, she was surrounded by recording studios, CDs and instruments even before she was born. His strong attraction to the world of music and entertainment becomes immediately apparent, and at the age of 6 he took his first steps to study piano and guitar. At the age of 9 he entered the piano conservatory, and meanwhile, as a parallel life, he attended the Scientific High School and then the University, Faculty of Economics. During her study years she cultivated all her passions with great dedication and determination, attended a classical and modern dance academy, studied singing, theater and as front girl and keyboardist with her own funky band Exhibited. She dreams of becoming a true multi-instrumentalist musician, and so she enters the study of electric bass as well. Already at the age of 14 he became attached to the world of writing, and started writing his first works, which he kept hidden for some time. At the age of 17 she was selected as a guest to sing on Italia 1, her first television experience. After graduating in Economics and majoring in Piano, she finally decides to launch herself into a new world as a singer-songwriter, musician and dancer, thus combining all her passions, and in 2020 her The project of producing the first album begins, once again completing a big step towards their dream. Her music is inspired by artists such as Beyoncé, Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, Queen, Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, Stevie Wonder, to find a style that has almost no gender. His project sees the light in 2022, with the publication of his first summer singles, “Stacera Sono Libera” and “41 12”. In 2023, in collaboration with Artist First, he released “Vago”, and in June the debut album “Alcatraz”, with the single “Musica per Strada” as its manifesto.
