Serena Williams: It’s okay not to be in a good state | Entertainment News

Serena Williams thinks it’s “ok to be uncomfortable.”

The 42-year-old former sports star admitted on social media that she was “not okay” but insisted that wasn’t a problem either.

Serena, widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players of all time, wrote on the “I’m with you. There’s always tomorrow (kiss emoji) love you. (sic)”

Serena Williams announced that she will retire in 2022.

However, she previously admitted retirement was a “taboo subject” in her family before retiring from the sport.

She told Vogue: “I’ve never been willing to admit to myself or anyone else that I had to stop playing tennis.

“Alexis, my husband and I barely talk about it; it’s like a taboo subject. I can’t even have this conversation with my mom and dad. Unless you say it out loud, it’s Like unreal.

“It came on and I got this uncomfortable feeling in my throat and I started crying. The only person who was really there with me was my therapist! One thing I’m not going to do is sugarcoat this.”

Serena admits that unlike some of her competitors, she never really thought about retiring.

She said: “I know a lot of people are excited and looking forward to retirement and I really hope I feel that way too.

“When Ashleigh Barty left the sport in March she was world number one and I believe she was really ready to move on. Caroline Wozniacki Wozniacki, one of my best friends, was relieved when she retired in 2020. ”
