Sadio Mane made his 100th appearance for Senegal during the international break and the star will now hope to inspire Al Nasr to a crucial win in the Saudi Pro League on Friday
Cristiano Ronaldo and the rest of his Al Nasser teammates gave Sadio Mane a cake to celebrate his 100th cap for the Senegalese national team.
Mane, 31, scored a landmark goal in Senegal’s 1-0 victory over Cameroon last Thursday, with the former Liverpool striker scoring the only goal of the game. Two days later, he scored twice in a 4-0 win over South Sudan in Dakar.
Mane has since returned to Saudi Arabia to continue his career at the Al Nasr Stadium. When he returned, his club teammates surprised him with a cake. Before they enjoyed the delicious meal, Ronaldo was on hand to hand Mane a knife to cut the cake.
Nasr’s side chanted Mane’s name, who then thanked his employers for their support. The Saudi club’s head coach Luis Castro hopes the move will inspire his team to an important win against Al-Ahdoud in Riyadh on Friday.
Al-Nasr cannot afford to draw or lose against relegation candidates as they are already four points behind leaders Al-Hilal in the race for the Saudi Professional League title. Al-Akhdoud are in the bottom three but beat Al-Hazm 2-1 in their latest match.
Mane has made a promising start in Saudi Arabia after moving from Bayern Munich in the summer, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in 19 games. However, expectations were higher for the player who finished second in the Ballon d’Or voting last year.

Mane has had an illustrious career so far, winning league titles in England, Germany and Austria. He is best known for winning accolades such as the Champions League and scoring 120 goals while playing for Liverpool between 2016 and 2022.
However, Mane will also be remembered for his achievements at international level. Since making his debut for Senegal in 2012, he has scored a record 40 goals in 101 games. Only Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye (105) has made more appearances for the African country.
Mane’s finest moment in international competition came in 2021, when he led Senegal to their first African Cup of Nations title in Cameroon. He scored the winning penalty in the final against Egypt and was named the best player of the tournament.
Senegal’s recent win over South Sudan was their qualifier for the next World Cup. Mane missed last year’s World Cup in Qatar due to injury and will be desperate to feature in the United States, Canada and Mexico in 2026.
