During a 2022 discussion with Harper’s Bazaar, Serena Williams and Venus Williams were asked several questions about their personal lives. One of them also gave them a platform to talk about their religious beliefs.

In the interview, they shared: “We don’t celebrate holidays at all. But we absolutely love always figuring out a way to fellowship.” The reason they don’t celebrate the holiday is that they were raised as Jehovah’s Witnesses.

In this religious faith, followers understand that God is not a person but a force and spiritual force. Therefore, they worship the Holy Spirit instead of Jesus Christ, contrary to what other Christians do. The sisters also followed this faith very religiously.

In fact, Serena Williams also shared that her daughter follows the same religion. The tennis legend also baptized herself as a witness to reaffirm her faith.

Serena Williams Talks Her Baptism and Daughter’s Same Religion

In early 2023, Serena Williams was baptized as a Witness at a conference of Jehovah’s Witnesses. This is in West Palm Beach, Florida. In another interview, Serena Williams mentioned that she believed in religion but wanted to explore it more, and baptism was her answer.

In fact, she later revealed that her eldest daughter, Olympia, followed the same religion. That’s why she doesn’t celebrate birthdays. As per their religious beliefs, followers do not celebrate any birthdays or festivals.
