Michael Jordan’s daughter Jasmine struggled to have a famous dad as a child

Going to high school can be a difficult experience for many teenagers, but for Jasmine Jordan, as the daughter of one of the NBA’s most prolific players, it’s even more challenging. However, as Jasmine plotted her college career at Syracuse University, she couldn’t help but be thrust into the spotlight. She ended up accidentally going viral thanks to an innocuous but now-deleted tweet.

“I tweeted that I was going to Syracuse University, and I didn’t have that many followers at the time, so I didn’t think much of it. A local media outlet picked up my tweet and it was like an interview, and I was pissed! I was so frustrated, Because it’s like – first of all, I didn’t get an interview, and second of all, you just took my tweet and made up a story that I had no say in. It’s frustrating because, ‘Once I get to campus, I have to Deal with everyone’s star. I was being judged and talked about before I had a chance to ask a question in class,” Jasmine explained in a July 2018 interview with InStyle.

Fortunately, supportive professors helped her navigate the challenges. Jasmine received her degree in Sports Management from Syracuse University in 2014. From there, she began developing a career strategy that would separate her from her famous father while still helping run his brand.
