Mathieu Gomalak took over the lead after spending two years at Col Vicenza. Colonel Matthew Gomlak, of Polish origin, a “green beret” leaves Vicenza

In his greetings, Col. Gomalak, who is a “Green Beret”, a Columbia graduate, and a man of marked empathy, said jokingly but not too much: “It’s no secret that a position in Italy is one of the most prestigious assignments in the US military. It took me 23 years to finally get appointed here.”

The Generalissimo was the first appointed official in Vicenza in 1988–1991.

Four-Star General Christopher G. Cavoli, Supreme Commander of US Forces in Europe

Gomalak was assigned to Belgium as the first officer (technically) executive officers) General Christopher G. Cavoli, 59, four-star general, born in Würzburg to an army officer father of Talian origin. He grew up between Rome, Vicenza and Verona. Generalissimo Cavoli was first commissioned a second lieutenant in the 325th Parachute Regiment’s 3rd Battalion in Ederle between 1998 and 1991 in Vicenza. Cavoli, who has a master’s degree in Russian studies at Yale, was chosen by President Biden last year to head all US forces. Europe became the highest-ranking NATO official on the old continent. If it’s not (yet) a normal placement for Gomalak, we’re close.
