“WNBA Free Agency News: MVP Breanna Stewart has agreed to a one-year, non-guaranteed, below-max contract to return to the New York Liberty, sources say. The Las Vegas Aces won the WNBA championship for the second consecutive year. The Aces are expected to compete for the title again in 2024, so Liberty will need to be at full strength to beat Las Vegas.

Liberty should be a competitive team as well, especially with the return of Breanna Stewart.

The 29-year-old averaged 23 points per game in 2023 while shooting 46.5% from the field and 35.5% from three-point range. She contributed 9.3 rebounds, 3.8 assists, 1.6 blocks and 1.5 steals per game. Those statistics helped Stewart win his second career WNBA MVP award.

There’s no question that Stewart’s first season in New York was a success. A championship would make it all the more memorable, though, so Stewart may be more motivated than ever heading into the new season.
