(SNKRDUNK Spotlight) Trophy Room | SNKRDUNK Magazine

TROPHY ROOM is the brainchild of Marcus Jordan, the youngest son of trapeze artist Michael. An upscale sneaker and streetwear boutique inspired by the heart of the Jordan family estate: their namesake trophy room. Not only does it symbolize the legacy of its patriarch, but it also serves as a space that brings family, friends and colleagues together.

For visitors, Christmas morning and casual gatherings within the city walls have never been an easy matter. Celebrated or not, they are always moments of great inspiration.

Witnessing their father’s victories is both a source of pride and a silent challenge for Michael Jordan’s children, an invitation to strive for greatness. For young Jordan, his biggest addition to their “trophy room” is having his own trophy.

About the Trophy Room

Inevitably, Marcus Jordan grew up with a sense of “the ‘need’ to live up to (his) father’s legacy.” From his early basketball days to his college career at the University of Central Florida, constant scrutiny fueled his competitive spirit and drove him to excel.

“Every time I step on the court, someone wants to dunk or cross over Michael Jordan’s son,” I shared in Complex. “It goes with the name and it’s something that increases my competitiveness. On any given night, getting the best performance from the other team requires me to have a level of consistency that drives me to get better every year. .”

Marcus, however, longed to forge his own path. He understands the importance of a strong work ethic instilled by his parents, as well as the value of business acumen, which is reflected in his father’s diverse businesses, from car dealerships to Nike partnerships to restaurants. His studies in hospitality management also further solidified his interest in customer service, a core value instilled in him growing up.

Far from being a whim and flippant nepotism, the concept was the result of more than a year of research and refinement, which required him to address the concerns of his “super old school” father and seek guidance from industry veterans. He turned to Social Status founder James Whitner to learn how to run a company, from a successful opening to day-to-day operations.

The Trophy Room officially opened on May 23, 2016. In his words, it was an accidental date, referring to his jersey number “5” as a player, and his father’s “23”.

Although it is ultimately a store, it is also a “museum” that reflects the warm family atmosphere the family has in their home. The store’s décor is a mix of throwback videos and photos of Jordan’s family, memorabilia from his father’s playing days, game-worn shoes and more. A glimpse into their personal worlds growing up.

“This is by far one of the best places in the house. Whenever we win trophies, my dad keeps all our trophies next to him. It makes us want to work hard to win what we have achieved. I want to pass The trophy room recreates that same feeling. “I wanted it to be a place where customers felt like they were part of the family. “

Originally located in Disney Springs in Orlando, Florida, they closed in 2019 and operated online until 2022 when they reopened at their current location at 50 South Rosalind Avenue in downtown Orlando.

As before, Trophy Room continues to curate and sell footwear and apparel through partnerships with Jordan Brand, Nike Inc. and Upper Deck Authenticated; while paying tribute to Michael Jordan’s legendary NBA career.
