Michael Jordan agrees on comparisons between him and Anthony Edwards

Minnesota Timberwolves rising superstar Anthony Edwards is eager to become the face of the NBA.

He seemed to have all the talent to do so.

The 22-year-old guard’s stunning start to his career has drawn comparisons to arguably the greatest player of all time, Michael Jordan. While Edwards is far from the Chicago Bulls legend in terms of accolades, Jordan reportedly agreed there are similarities in their playing styles.

“Another player in this game who is similar and just as great is Anthony Edwards, who I think can be the best American player and maybe the representative of the league, at least for American players,” First Things co-host Chris Broussard said on a recent episode. “He’s not going to get into the ‘best of all time’ conversation. But stylistically, well, I reached out to ‘the best of all time’ Michael Jordan today. Jordan said there are similarities in their games and he agrees, so If Jordan says there are similarities, there are similarities.”

In his fourth season, Edwards is averaging 26.6 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while shooting 46.7% from the field while charging for the top seed in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, in Jordan’s fourth year, he averaged 35 points, 5.9 assists and 3.2 steals per game as the Bulls became the third seed in the Eastern Conference. Athleticism and finishing around the rim are two major aspects of their style that are comparable.

But perhaps the biggest similarity lies not in the statistics, but in their desire and love for the game. Edwards and Jordan displayed a passion for the game that is rare, especially in the modern era. The emotions each person expresses in their time is a unique skill that cannot be learned.
