Salta government launches province-wide flu vaccination

The government says the most at risk are people over 65, so vaccinators from the provincial health department have gone to nursing homes in Salta and other parts of the city. .

Ms. Immunization Program Manager adrienne juleonce said “About 90% of residents in the home have been vaccinated”.

The official added, “Not only residents have been vaccinated, but also people working from home and caring for retirees”. In addition to the influenza vaccine, other vaccines specified in the immunization schedule have also been administered to elderly residents.

In the city of Salta, the vaccine is distributed in 21 facilities, while in Tatagal, Oran, Rosario de Lerma and Chicoana, vaccinators work with local hospitals.

2024 events

During the 2024 campaign, the province of Salta has received 113,220 doses of vaccine from the National Ministry of Health.

The vaccine has been distributed to all operational areas for mass immunization through health facilities in hospitals and health centres, health posts, vaccination centers and private homes (for rural populations).

Influenza vaccination campaigns begin in the fall with the goal of immunizing before winter, when influenza viruses spread most severely.

The government says flu vaccinations will continue throughout the year.

These doses are used for:

* health personnel

*Pregnant women, at any time during pregnancy

* Postpartum women, within 10 days after delivery

*Children 6 to 24 months old

*Above 65 years old

* People between the ages of 2 and 64 with risk factors

Public security personnel and the armed forces will also be able to receive the vaccine free of charge, subject to vaccine availability.

The flu vaccine can be given with other vaccines (including the COVID-19 vaccine) or at any time interval.
