Laza in concert at Villa Manin, interview

One album – Sirio – has been at the top of the sales charts for more than twenty weeks, Cenere – the second in Sanremo – is one of the most played and sung tracks in recent months. Laza is definitely the singer of the moment. A musician who knows how to play with music and words is always changing, but faithful to his sound.

The Sirio album broke several records: for example, it topped the best-selling album charts for twenty-one weeks after its release, surpassing the incredible record held by Vasco Rossi in 2011 at n.1. After streaming over 1 billion, it was also certified a sixth Platinum disc, extending the tally of certifications achieved so far, ie 61 Platinum discs and 37 Gold discs. What does this mean to you?

For me to have reached such an important milestone is truly incredible and I must admit that it still seems absurd to think that I have left behind a legend like Vasco, it is a great responsibility to reach this position! I am proud and respected of these results because they have been achieved with a lot of work, study and continuous commitment with my team, but in fact I always see them not as arrivals, but as departures and crossing of goals. I try to see

How has your life in general changed after finishing second with Cenere in Sanremo? Have you started to “nibble” to be in second place?

Of course one would dream of first place, but I am satisfied with second place, especially because it is my first time in Sanremo and I have a lot of respect for Marco Mengoni. Despite the situation, it was still an important showcase and I am still proud to hear the roar of the audience months later when the first notes of CENERE begin. I can say that my victory in Sanremo was bringing urban music to that stage and I experienced it as a challenge for myself to reach the biggest goals.

What should the Friulian public expect from this first date of your summer tour? Have you already been to Friuli?

I’ve been to Friuli last year with my Sirio Tour in Azano Decimo and I’m glad to be back for this new summer tour, it’s sure to be a crazy evening and I’m sure the audience will enjoy it.

You studied piano at the Conservatory, you like classical music, but what kind of music do you listen to? And how does that affect your production, your music?

I’ve never given up on classical music and I continue to listen to it, but I listen to different styles of music: I especially like Frank Sinatra, Elton John, Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, but artists who influenced my music The one who has influenced everyone the most is definitely Kanye. West, Drake, Toyah Lace, who definitely contributed and shaped my style.

Which song do you wish you had written?

The song I would love to write is definitely “OGNT” by Sphera Abbasta, because for me it’s an unforgettable song that can’t fail to stick in your mind.,

Which song is your favorite?

I’m certainly very satisfied with the success Senere has had in a new context like Sanremo, but it’s very difficult to choose just one song because I have more than one on each record. I would say that “DDA” is a piece I’ve always believed in a lot, “Lario” is my first hit, “Porto Cervo” because, despite the long time that has passed, it continues to grind streams, “Morto My” which I consider “Tar” one of the more successful as it contains an important poem written for the mother., “Get Out of Jail”, but the song with Tory Lanez or the one with French Montana from SIRIO, two incredible feats.

How many tattoos do you have? what did you do first?

To be honest, I don’t count them anymore because they are really too many, but the first tattoo I got was a “J” on the right side of my eye, combined with a snake and fire on my arm. was taken again in the cover of the mixtape released after the quarantine.
