Taylor Swift Donates $100,000 to Eras Tour Truck Drivers

Taylor Swift, the famous American singer, songwriter and actress, is probably one of the most popular and beloved pop stars in the world (Wired source), breaking records for earnings and chart appearances. Now this queen of pop is further boosting her popularity with a hefty bonus she handed out to a few of her co-stars on the eve of a show in Santa Clara, California, the final stop of the highly successful Eras Tour.

Among them were about fifty carriers who were given an envelope with a check for 100 thousand dollars each. He told CNN Michael Sherkenbach, founder and CEO of Denver, Colorado-based Shomotion Transportation, one of two tour logistics companies. Swift wanted to express her gratitude to the people who contributed to the success of the tour.

“My company will take care of transporting the stage and the structure, basically the skeleton that holds everything up in the concert venue,” Scherkenbach told a CNN reporter, stressing that “these men and women live on the street. They sleep during the day and work at night. It’s a tedious task. They leave their families, small children for weeks. During the Taylor tour, they were away from home for 24 weeks.”
Getting $100,000 is the equivalent of a down payment on a house or college tuition for a child, Scherkenbach said: “A fair wage keeps you from buying a house. But it opens up that possibility.”
