As of 2023, five scarlet fever patients have been treated in Durango, according to the Department of Health.

Two men and three women were diagnosed with infections caused by group A Streptococcus.

It is worth mentioning that a total of 5 people were treated for the disease in the institution last year.

At the national level, 652 patients have been treated this year for scarlet fever, a disease that spreads through contact with saliva droplets from infected people.

According to statistics, there were 324 males and 328 females.

Last year, 1,063 people in Mexico were treated for the disease, according to the Mexican Ministry of Health.

Scarlet fever can be spread when infected people cough, sneeze, or share glasses or plates.

Symptoms are: very red and sore throat, fever over 38.3 degrees, rash, red skin, white moss and red spots on the tongue or back of throat, headache, nausea or vomiting, neck pain. .

Once a doctor makes a diagnosis, the patient is offered antibiotic-based treatment.

Keep in mind that rheumatic fever (an inflammatory disease affecting the heart, joints, skin, and brain), kidney disease, ear or skin infections, pneumonia, or arthritis may complicate the disease.
