Open air cinema in Parco della Pace

After a great response last year, the municipality of Cattolica is releasing OUT! — LGBTQ+ Film Mini Review — Outdoors with free screening of L’Immensità (2022, directed by Emanuele Crialese, with Penélope Cruz) followed by discussion
on the topic of revealing gender identity. The event will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, August 8, at 21:00 in Parco della Pace, from Piazza IV Novembre (seating is limited, but the park can accommodate guests on its own lawn).

Over the past fifty years, the status of LGBTQ+ people in society has improved in many countries; in 1991, the World Health Organization removed homosexuality from the list of mental illnesses, while the political and cultural path brought even more attention to issues of sexual orientation and
gender identity in institutions. The European Commission recently reaffirmed that the European Union must be at the forefront of efforts to better protect the rights of LGBTQ+ people by combating discrimination against them, ensuring their safety, building inclusive societies and leading the fight for equality in society. world.

However, progress in the area of human rights has not always been unimpeded. In fact, there are still more than 60 states in the world that persecute the civil and social freedoms of LGBTQ+ people in their legal system; a dozen even provide for the death penalty. And even in countries where the situation of LGBTQ+ people has improved significantly, discrimination still persists. A recent study of the Emilia-Romagna region showed that 80% of LGBTQ+ residents were subjected to insults and ridicule, 50% to threats and 11% to physical or sexual violence.

The Municipality of Cattolica is at the forefront of promoting 360 degree inclusiveness, creating a socio-cultural context in which all people feel at ease. Hence the joining of the Municipality of Cattolica last December to RE.A.DY, the National Public Network.
Administrations to Combat Discrimination for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity, as well as patronage and participation in the Summer Pride to be held in Rimini on Sunday 6 August.

The project has received the patronage of Arcigay Rimini and the Call Call Violence Center and will be carried out in collaboration with Sistema Critico and Toby Dammit.
