star reveals how she lost her role as Black Widow in the MCU

Emily Blunt replenished her stellar filmography with another role: wife Oppenheimer in a movie about Christopher Nolan in a few weeks also in our country. But there is one genre in which the English actress flatly refuses to take part, and that is superhero. However, in the past there was a possibility: to interpret Black Widow.

When asked by the hosts of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, she said that she wears this pick as “Medal of Valor”to then indicate, however, that during his career at least one deal failed for his appearance in the film comics. It’s really about character Black Widowwhose role in the end went – deservedly, emphasized Emily Blunt – her colleague Scarlett Johansson.

Here’s what he said during the podcast:

Over the years, there have been rumors about Captain Marvel, Peggy Carter, Sue Storm and… Black Widow was real, right? Have you been chosen for the role of Black Widow?

“Come on, he went to the best actress.”

AND other than Black Widow, is there anything true about the rest?

“Hearing. Vote. Doubts. Those things are over there.”

So you’ve never met Kevin Feige?

“No, not for those roles there.”

Finally, Blunt elaborated on his stance “against” the movie comic with the following words:

“Usually I do not accept the role thinking that then it could become a franchise. This is not my habit. I don’t have a specific strategy, I don’t know why. I like something, and then I just hope that everything will work out, also because each new project is a jump into the void. Of course, when I read the script, I see that some things are more commercially viable than others, but that’s not the reason so I choose one project and not another.”

We will be able to see Emily Blunt at the cinema in Oppenheimer, as the Communist botanist Katherine Oppenheimer, the protagonist’s wife. Also in the cast Cillian Murphy like J. Robert Oppenheimer himself, Robert Downey Jr. will be present as Lewis Strauss, Chairman of the Atomic Energy Commission, Matt Damon including Leslie Groves, director of the Manhattan Project. They complete the rest of the cast Kenneth Branagh, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, Dane DeHaan, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine, Benny Safdie, Michael Angarano, Dylan Arnold, Alden Ehrenreich AND David Kramholtz.

The film will be released in theaters in Italy August 23, 2023
