NerDisney #48 – Bolt – Four-Legged Hero

My – not – memories

We’ve come to a point where Classic is too recent for me to have any special memories. Moreover, the 48th Classic, Bolt the four-legged heroI brought it back almost ten years after it was released in 2008. Film Chris Williams and Byron Howard but this is not bad at all and represents a watershed between the confused previous period and the great successes that followed.

Plot

bolt dog he was adopted by a girl who turned out to be the daughter of a famous scientist who endowed the dog with numerous abilities. Together they try to defeat the evil Dr. Calico and free Penny’s father (who I know is not our Penny). Or so it seems. Really Penny and Volt two actors from the series. The problem is, no one has ever told Bolt that he really thinks he’s a superdog. Things will inevitably get complicated when Bolt ends up in New York by mistake and has to travel to Los Angeles to find his mistress.

The story has a starting point that has already been seen in Disney: in toy story, Buzz Lightyear believes that he is really a space hero and not a toy. In the Pixar movie, this is just one of several plot points, but in Bolt it is the main one. spine stories and the path of growth that our protagonist has to go through. The path is a bit simplified, to be honest. Bolt doesn’t have a moment of real fear when he discovers he’s not a superdog, and he doesn’t have a major breakdown after this revelation – for example, Buzz almost drives himself crazy.

you work behind the scenes

A simplification of the story can be found in problematic production movie. Bolt was originally a project Chris SandersDirector Lilo and Stitch. With title american dog, Sanders works on the film while Disney buys Pixar and appoints John Lasseter as creative director. Lasseter had to patch the semi-unwatchable Robinsons and then there was a clash with Sanders, who decided to leave Disney and go to competitors DreamWorks.

Lasseter entrusted the film to Williams and Howard, greatly simplifying the plot, simply trying to bring the film closer to more classic tracks looking forward to returning to the great tales envisioned by the next films. The directors succeeded in their plan. The result is a film that is small in theme and development, but with a big heart. It’s very hard to say bad things about this movie, at best it’s a trifle compared to the great classics. But it’s entertaining and hits the right chords. I wouldn’t be surprised if over time it becomes cult moviea bit like what happened to other pre-Renaissance Disney films like Oliver and company AND Vasily Mouse detective.

Soundtrack

We’re still at the stage where Disney hasn’t trusted us to go back to the musical and therefore the songs. There’s a montage of travel to the tune of the song New life (Lay on the moon in original). And in the credits John Travolta and Miley CyrusBolt and Penny’s original voice actors, singing i thought i lost you.

How old he is

Perhaps today it is considered better than going out. Really Bolt contains in a nutshell a graphic and narrative style that will be the basis of subsequent great successes. The two directors will be one of the cornerstones of the new course, given that they will be among the directors Rapunzel, Zootopia, Encanto, Oceania AND Big Hero 6.
