By joint initiative of the teachings of Storytelling and multimedia languages (prof Paula Dalla Torre), Of Sociology of communication and media theories (prof. Simone Mulargia; prof. Francis Nespoli) of the Department of Human Sciences and in collaboration with Harambee Africa International ETSFriday 24 March – 1.00 pm – 3.00 pm, Room 1 in Piazza delle Vaschette, Rome and online at Google Meet – one has been scheduled lesson-meeting which will see the African director as a guest David Boanuh to talk on the power of storytelling multimedia and on the capacity that this form of storytelling has in shaping the collective imagination, modifying culture and society.
The meeting will be held in English. To an introduction by the professors Paula Dalla Torre And Francis Nespoli (LUMSA University), a discussion with the director will follow David Boanuh.
He intervenes Scarlett Miranda representative of Harambee Foundationwhich works to enhance the potential of the different realities of Sub-Saharan Africa.

David Boanuh, born in 1997, is a director and cinematographer from Accra, Ghana. Passionate about poetry, he studied cinematography at the University, first approaching travel and costume cinema and then moving on to narrative and documentary cinema.
Boanuh is the co-founder of ‘Beautiful Stories Studios‘, a production company that intends to make Africa and its stories known beyond stereotypes, from an African perspective, through photography and cinema. Through the telling of positive stories, Beautiful Stories Studios wishes to inspire mainland and diaspora Africans to be proud of their heritage, history and culture.
Boanuh has been chosen by world top-brands (Apple and Vogue above all) and has active musical collaborations (filming for the musical “Black is King” by and with Beyoncé2020) gaining global attention and sparking debates on the meaning that the celebration of African identity can have for current and future generations.
In 2022 Boanuh won the IX International Harambee Award “Communicating Africa” with the documentary: “The Golden Seeds” which tells the problem of the cocoa industry through the voice of the farmers themselves: a journey through the eastern region of Ghana and the Ivory Coast, narrated in collaboration with the American photographer Joshua Kissi and created for “Tony’s Chocolonely”, a project that fights for a fair trade supply chain in the cocoa industry. Boanuh was also awarded for the video clip “Reframed” in the ‘spot’ category of the same competition.
