Designed by David E. Kelley, Nicole Kidman and Lionsgate Television, HBO Max just released the full trailer for Love & Deathminiseries true crime which will debut in the USA on April 27.

This the official plot:

It tells the true story of Candy and Pat Montgomery and Betty and Allan Gore – two church-going couples enjoying their small-town life in Texas… until an extramarital affair leads someone to pick up an axe.

In the actual case, Candy Montgomery had an affair with Allan Gore after she became friends with his wife, Betty Gore, through attending the local church. On June 13, 1980, Betty was found murdered, while Allan was out of town. She was hit 41 times by an axe.

Candy was charged with Betty’s murder, but claimed she acted in self-defense after Betty learned of her husband’s affair. Candy successfully took a lie detector test and was later acquitted.

In the cast of Love & Death there are Elizabeth Olsen, Jesse Plemons, Lily Rabe, Patrick Fugit, Krysten Ritter, Tom Pelphrey and Keir Gilchrist. The screenplay is by David E. Kelley (The Undoing), while she took care of the direction Leslie Linka Glatter (Homeland).
