The Weeknd is the most popular artist in the world.

The Canadian singer, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, is the most popular music artist in the world according to the Guinness World Records report, which compiled and analyzed Spotify data from the biggest names in the music industry.

The Weeknd’s record company has confirmed not only that the singer became the artist with the most monthly listeners on Spotifyreaching 111.4 million a few days ago, but that has also become the first artist on the streaming platform to reach 100 million monthly listeners.

Guinness World Records also notes that The Weeknd currently has nearly 30 million more listeners than Miley Cyrus, who finished in second place on the chart with 82.4 million listeners; followed by 81.6 million for Shakira.

Followed by Ariana Grande (80.6 million), Taylor Swift (80.2 million), Rihanna (78.5 million) and Ed Sheeran, who boasts a total of 77.5 million listeners on Spotify.

The Weeknd’s mind-boggling figures come following the release of his remix of Die For You with Ariana Grande, went viral on TikTok and used as audio on all social platforms.

These are not the first Guinness World Records titles for the singer. In 2016 he received two certificates; one for most streamed album on Spotify in 2015 and another for most consecutive weeks in the Top 10 of Billboard’s Hot 100 by a solo artist.
