Rumors want that Millie Bobby Brown has turned down a millionaire offer to reprise her role as Eleven in a series spin off dedicated to his character of Stranger Things. But the producers deny it. What is true about this rumor and why would Brown say no?
Millie Bobby Brown rejects Stranger Things spinoff — or maybe not?
According to some British tabloids, Brown would have received the offer of 12 million dollars (about 11.2 million euros) to interpret Eleven in a spin-off that would have explored her past and her future after the end of the main series (we told you about it here). However, the young actress allegedly declined the offer, looking for other roles.
However, the rumor was denied by authors of “Stranger Things”, who used their Twitter account to dismiss the report. “Yes, there is nothing in this article that is true“, they wrote. “I don’t know why we have to keep debunking this rumor, but click those guys!!”
The truth is that at the moment there are no concrete plans for a ‘Stranger Things’ spin-off. The creators of the series, Matt and Ross Duffer, have admitted in the past that they have some ideas for expanding the universe of the series. However, their ideas are not characters that already exist in the main series, but new stories set in the same world.
The only character that will have some kind of prequel will be Hoppersplayed in the series by David Harbour. But it will not be a television series on Netflix, but a theatrical show that will debut in West End of London before the end of the year. The show will be called “Stranger Things: The First Shadows” and will be set in 1959, telling the dark origins of police chief Hawkins. The tetral piece was written by Kate Trefryone of the writers and executive producers of the TV series.
Brown seems ready to move on. She told Good Morning America last fall (video here): “It will be tough, of course. It’s like my high school, I grew up on the show. They are like my schoolmates. You know, it will be difficult. But it’s not like I’ll never see them again, and I’m sure Netflix will make it last as long as possible, and… it’s just a huge part of my career and so formative, and I’ll always remember my experience with ‘Stranger Things’” .
