bud Avian Influenza increased to 79, none in commercial birds Brazil According to information (map) released by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock, as of last Sunday evening, 79 highly pathogenic avian influenza outbreaks had been confirmed, none of which occurred in poultry in the production sector.
Two recent outbreaks were confirmed in wild birds in Guazuba (PR) and Paraty (RJ). Of the confirmed cases so far, 77 are in wild birds and two are in domestic poultry.
Six investigations into the suspected outbreak are ongoing. Since the first case was confirmed on May 15, there have been 1,692 investigations into suspected avian respiratory syndrome in the country.
Among them, there are 406 sample collections. The state with the most outbreaks was Espírito Santo (28 cases in wild birds, 01 in surviving birds), followed by Rio de Janeiro (16 cases in wild birds), Sao Paulo (10 cases), Parana (10 cases ), Santa Catarina (08 cases) for wild birds and 01 for surviving birds), Bahia (04) and Rio Grande do Sul (01). Brazil is still considered HPAI-free according to the World Organization for Animal Health (WHO) criteria, as there have not been any confirmed cases of avian influenza in poultry in the country’s production sector.
