And therefore with the imminent release of Fast X we can state without fear of contradiction that Fast & Furious is about to become the perfect franchise: ten round chapters, in a constant crescendo of collections, fame and also impact on the cultural landscape – anyone would tell you that, for example, for the concept of “family” there is a before and an after Fast & Furiousa film that put the obsolete definitions of “father” and “mother” into the attic, replacing them both with “Vin Diesel”.
If you prefer machines to superpowers (and lately if you like seeing machines and superpowers together), there’s a very good chance that the saga of Fast & Furious has been your Marvel Cinematic Universe for the last twenty years. We are talking about the eighth most profitable film series ever, a giant worth over six billion dollars that has launched a series of careers (not only Vin Diesel and Paul Walker but also, for one thing, Gal Gadot) and above all invented a meeting point between the demands of the modern blockbuster and the unashamed exaggerations of classic genre cinema.
