According to the magazine Peoplethe rumor of their alleged dinner together at a New York City restaurant went viral on TikTok after the user Klarissa Garcia (@klarissa.mpeg) shared an exchange of messages with a friend of hers who claimed to have seen them.
The girl explained that both she and her friend work as hostesses at one of New York’s favorite celebrity restaurants and shared a screenshot of their conversation in which the friend wrote to her: “Tell me how Selena Gomez and Zayn just walked into the restaurant holding hands kissing and I sat them down. Everyone out there feels bad for Selena. Meanwhile, she is with her daughter’s father Gigi Hadid”.
These rumors come just weeks after fans spotted Selena Gomez and Zayn Malik following each other on Instagramand she is one of just 18 accounts the former member follows one direction.
Fans have also recirculated an interview from the early 2010s in which Selena is asked which member of One Direction she would like to kiss the most and she replies right “Zayn”, with a chuckle.
