Venice 80 Preview – Aggro Dr1ft, Travis Scott for Harmony Korine

After spring Breakers (2012), Harmony Korine returns to the Venice Film Festival in its 80th edition to present her new film. Agro Dr1ft, in the Out of Competition section. A new story of young people who, without direction, move in danger, losing sight of the thin line between good and evil, between good and evil. Production and distribution of the film will be entrusted to A24, the most fashionable independent film company at the moment, which, thanks to films such as hereditary (2019) e X – Sexy Horror Story (2022) have been able to build a cult following around their releases. Agro Dr1ft we will see the acting debut of world phenomenon Travis Scott, who will play opposite Jordi Molla.

Rumor has it that Harmony Korine chose to shoot the film entirely in infrared to create a hallucinatory perception of the possessed killer. This isn’t the first time the director has used a peculiar lighting technique to recreate a jaded and unsettled atmosphere. IN Gummo (his first work) used fluorescent lights, sometimes yellowish, to breathe life into a post-apocalyptic, nihilistic and sick scenario.

Despite the nature of the work, Agro Dr1ft may have a significant impact in theaters thanks to the young fans of rapper Travis Scott who can’t wait to see their favorite on the big screen.
