Filming Beetlejuice 2Tim Burton’s new film, which will continue the story of his legendary 1998 feature film, was scheduled to end in July in Vermont, but production on the project was halted due to a cast strike.
Not much is known about the film yet. And in this regard, the words of director of photography Haris Zambarlukos, which were heard recently during an interview, add only a few general details.
In fact, he explained to The Wrap:
At the heart of Beetlejuice 2 is the story of a family. 30 years have passed (since the events of the first film – ed.) and what are the nuances and human conditions of keeping the family all this time in the craziest world? This is how I choose projects. Human interaction is always in the foreground for me.
A few weeks ago, Michael Keaton gave some insight into processing Beetlejuice 2. The star explained that his and the director’s goal was to replicate the techniques used in the production of the original work:
Beetlejuice is the most fun you can get on set. It’s all beautiful, especially since we’re filming it the same way we filmed the first film.
We (Burton and I) talked about this many years ago without telling anyone. (…) We both agreed that if we did film it, it would be as close as possible to what it was the first time. Invent, manage, improvise, do something with your own hands, build.
In the cast, in addition to Michael Keaton, we will also find Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara, as well as newcomers Justin Theroux and Jenna Ortega. We don’t know anything about the plot, but the most recent version of the script was written by Al Gough and Miles Millar, the creators of Among. The first draft was written by Seth Graham-Smith and David Katzenberg (also producers) and then revised by Mike Vukadinowicz.
