Pepsi Unveils Vintage Commercials Starring Madonna, Britney Spears, Tina Turner, Robert Palmer and Ray Charles Online and on TV
Pepsi is re-releasing iconic music videos featuring Britney Spears, Madonna, Ray Charles, Robert Palmer and Tina Turner ahead of the 2023 VMAs.

Decades ago, Pepsi created commercials in the music video style that works so well today, and on the occasion of the MTV Video Music Awards scheduled for September 12, it will re-offer some of the most famous ones in the context of its 125th anniversary celebrations.

Old commercials featuring Madonna, Britney Spears, Tina Turner, Robert Palmer and Ray Charles were re-released online, playing an important role in shaping the brand’s legacy.

Not only that, but Madonna’s “Like A Prayer” and Britney Spears’ “The Joy of Cola” songs from over 30 and 20 years ago will be broadcast on television in the US during the MTV event, updated only with a new logo. Pepsi and visual identity at the beginning and end of each commercial.

“Over the years, Pepsi has established itself as an innovative brand with a deep history of pioneering music, from inventing the first commercial to turning commercials into music videos. So as we celebrate Pepsi’s 125th anniversary, we decided that at the MTV Video Music Awards we would celebrate some of Pepsi’s most iconic music videos from the past,” said Todd Kaplan, Pepsi’s chief marketing officer.

In addition to Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” (1989) and Britney Spears’ “The Joy of Coke” (2001), Tina Turner’s “The Taste of Pepsi” (1986), Robert Palmer’s “Simply Irresistible” (1989 updated) and Ray’s “The Right One Baby” Charles (1991).
