‘My father left a great legacy,’ King Vallenato Miguel Lopez’s son

Roman López, son of King Miguel López of Vallenato, spoke about his father’s life in front of the microphone of Radio Caracol, He died within hours of arriving at Cesar Clinic due to health complications.

“It was not a good day for Vallenato lovers. My father was hospitalized for about two months with mild pneumonia, but thank God he was treated. But complications were coming and he fought until the end because he wanted to live a few more years, but God arranged it that way and gave him the strength to be in this land until today,” he explained.

Roman continued: “My father left a great legacy. He started playing the snare drum, Pablo played the accordion, and then, Pablo saw my father He was better on the accordion than on the snare drum and they made the change and that’s where Miguel started playing. Then he formed an ensemble with Jorge Oñate and the Lopez brothers, and they recorded nine works, and then he produced more ensembles,” Detailed description of the son of King Vallenato.

“I thank Teacher Alfredo Gutierrez Because he made a nice gesture towards my dad by letting my dad visit him in the clinic. “He gave him a voice of encouragement,” he added.

Vallenata Legends Festival Foundation Regrets In 1972 the fifth King of Vallenato, Miguel Antonio López Gutiérrez, who contributed to the accordion, died. He praised the greatness of his dynasty and together with Jorge Oñate wrote a glorious musical chapter, “El Jilguero de América”.
