“Wonderland”, discovering the Seafret album: the tracklist

Adored by the English press, with tours sold out also in America, Seafret announce ‘Wonderland’, the new album arriving on April 14th, between pop anthems and sincere lyrics

After wrapping up an incredible 2022 with the release of the critically acclaimed EP ‘Anywhere From Here’, followed by the new single released in January, ‘See, I’m Sorry’, a pop anthem playlisted on BBC Radio 2, Seafret announce the details of their new and eagerly awaited third album, ‘Wonderland‘, arriving April 14 on the Nettwerk Music Group label. Accompanying the announcement is ‘Remind Me To Forget You’, a shimmering pop track that takes the English duo back to their roots between heartfelt lyrics and softer instrumentation.

Building on the success of the first long-range album, ‘Most Of Us Are Strangers’ (2020) which was followed by the TikTok resurgence of ‘Atlantis’, a 2015 single that recently topped the official UK charts, with over 15 millions of monthly plays on Spotify alone, ‘Wonderland’ finds the band in their best form to date, amidst euphoric and catchy tunes.

“It was an absolute joy to bring ‘Wonderland’ to life. Some of the tracks were inspired by being in a dark place and then finding the light again. Let’s hope the positivity shines through. For us it is our best album to date, a sublime work that guides the listener through our history as a band, between losses, joys and rebirths “ says the duo of Jack Sedman and Harry Draper. “We tried to find a balance on the album, so some songs are about heartbreak, some are really uplifting. We got out of our comfort zone, which was great.”

Seafret were on tour in 2020 in support of their second album when, due to the pandemic, they had to interrupt their concerts and return to their own countries. “It can get heavy on your mind” recalls Draper. “You enter this dark space, but we’ve tried to keep writing and we’ve never really been that productive. We’re really proud of this record.”

‘Wonderland’ opens with ‘Never Say Never’, a folk-pop song with crisp percussion and romantic guitar licks with a nod to the Police. ‘See I’m Sorry’ is an exuberant pop track added at the last minute, with production by Grammy winner Dan Grech-Marguerat. “We thought the record was finished, but our creative streak kept going. The track was a big hit, even from fans who responded to the call to be in the music video, posting reasons why they were sorry.”

‘Running Out Of Love’ addresses relationships that don’t make it, while ‘Hollow’ is about the impact the loss of a loved one can have on the people they leave behind. Among Seafret’s favorite songs, ‘Made Of Love’, inspired mainly by the death of Sedman’s grandmother. Her voice is rough with pain and cracked with emotion. The title track, ‘Wonderland’ is equally moving, while reflecting the album’s overall theme of emerging from the darkness into the light.

After signing with a major label early in his career, Seafret relocated to London, where they found their way. On ‘Wonderland’ they have worked with some of the UK’s most famous producers, from Cam Blackwood (Florence and the Machine, George Ezra, London Grammar) to Steve Robson (Miley Cyrus, One Direction, Take That).
