There is nothing official, but it cannot be excluded that the new album by Pearl Jam is close to being finished.
The question is legitimate: at what stage is the new Pearl Jam album?
No one knows exactly, because the group always remained in the shadows during the recording periods.
What seems to be certain is that the group, up to now, should have already written and recorded half a dozen songs at the private studio in Beverly Hills of Andrew Wattsthe producer of the new Pearl Jam album, known for being the producer of earthlings by Eddie Vedder and various records by Ozzy Osbourne, Iggy Pop and Morrissey (the latter pending publication). Not only that, Watt is also a member of the Earthlings, the Pearl Jam singer’s live band.
During the summer of 2021 and then again in the spring and autumn of 2022, the group seems to have definitively recorded 6 or 7 songs at the Gold Tooth Music Studio in Los Angeles, studios where they were recorded earthlings and records by Iggy Pop, Post Malone, but also the penultimate album by Miley Cyrus, plastic hearts. It should be emphasized that these sessions took place with all the components present in the studio, breaking up the previous recording methods Gigaton (disc recorded not with the whole band in the studio).
On April 10, 2023, Watt then posted a cryptic photo of himself on his Instagram Jeff Ament with written “Big Wave”, which could mean that at this moment the group is working on the next album. It is interesting to note that in their history, Pearl Jam have often recorded most of their records in the spring, as already happened for Vs., Yield, binaural, Riot Act And Lightning Bolt.
While Stone Gossard stated that he would be very surprised if the new Pearl Jam album was released before 2024, but we would not be at all surprised if it were released in the fall or winter, in light of the fact that in early 2013, Stone revealed that the new album would be released in 2014, while instead, as we well know, Lightning Bolt it came out in October of that same year…
Finally, an unconfirmed rumor. It seems that in recent days, Josh Homme of Queens of The Stone Age has been spotted in the studio with Eddie Vedder and Andy Watt. Given the producer’s love for special guests, who knows if Homme appears as a special guest on the new Pearl Jam album… Wouldn’t that be cool?
Below you can instead read all the articles we have written up to here dedicated to the group’s new studio album, which will be the twelfth of their career.
