The Italian Job is a must-see movie

If you are grew up on bread and motors Who knows how many rainy days you’ll spend sprawled sideways on the couch with a bowl of popcorn at hand, enjoying movies like Fast and Furious, Gone in 60 seconds, Cars, Days of Thunder, Hurry, and so on. One of the best works of the genre remains without a doubt Italian worka film directed by F. F. Gary, released theatrically in 2003 as a modern re-release of the cult film. Italian shot 1969, in which a noisy gang of English thieves he steals a shipment of gold bars destined for Fiat and escapes through the streets of Turin aboard three Mini Coopers.

“RESTOMOD” CULT. redo renews the plot in many ways Italian work 60s – most notably three (but modern) Minis, white, red and blue (Union Jack colours) and an escape made possible by tampering with the city’s traffic light control center – and stars the caliber of Charlize TheronMark Wahlberg and Jason Statham, as well as Edward Norton, Seth Green and Donald Sutherland.

FUN GUARANTEED. The plot is simple and well structured: a group of American thieves led by Charlie Crocker (played by Wahlberg; however, in the 1969 film, the role of the same scoundrel is played by a very brilliant and charming Michael Caine), strikes the blow of his life, theft of 35 million gold bars in Venice, but during the escape, one of his comrades (Norton) betrays the others, kills the team’s mentor (John Bridger, played by Sutherland) and disappears. A year later, the group tracks him down in Los Angeles and, together with Bridger’s daughter (Stella Bridger, played by Charlize Theron, an expert safecracker for the police), plan the necessary revenge down to the last detail. Each character is very well characterized and has a specific role to play, from Statham in the role a playboy who drives a car very well Green, who plays Lyle, a phenomenal hacker and the real inventor of Napster, to Stella, who is driven by a desire for revenge and the undisputed star of the film (yes, the Minis will appear later…).

AND TALK ABOUT MINI… There’s no doubt that the three Minis are the automotive stars of the film. Like the film from more than half a century ago, these are the strongest versions. Cooper Sor rather the 2003 R53 versions equipped with the John Cooper Works tuning kit, which increases the power of the 1.6 supercharged engine. from 163 to 200 hp (but for stage needs, less extreme Coopers were also used, and even some electric models…). The film’s opening scenes also feature an adorable (and tiny) ’97 Mini driven by Stella Bridger, but the real spectacle comes from the newer, more powerful sisters as they make daring raids through the streets of Los Angeles between tunnels cut at full speed and stunt acts on lawns and stairs. In short, a film not to be missed, for fans of the genre and not only…
