In spite of the rumors about the alleged absence of the Kardashian-Jenner family at the MET Gala 2023, a source tells PageSix that Kim Kardashian will attend the fashion event in May. In March, other sources told the same information portal that the family would not be invited to the MET Gala this time, having attended in full last year. Anna Wintour, president of the annual event, would have made significant cuts on the guest list, favoring guests more inserted into the fashion scene.
According to PageSix, Kim Kardashian won’t be the only one in her family to tread the steps of the MET Museum during the biggest fashion night of the year. Although it is still unknown who received the invitation, the portal suggests the name of Kendall Jenner. Last year, the MET Gala saw the first participation of Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian, while Kris, Kendall and Kylie Jenner had already walked the famous red carpet the previous years. But none of her as regularly as Kim, who attended the event for the first time in 2013, next to Kanye West and pregnant with her first child. Since then, the MET Gala has become a fixture for the socialite, who over the years has garnered global attention with breathtakingly scenic outfits. How can we forget Thierry Mugler’s 2019 “wet” look? Kim even enlisted the savoir faire of corset maker Mr. Pearl – who taught her special breathing techniques – to fit the outfit. In 2021 however, the entrepreneur chose the infamous black catsuit by Balenciaga which covered her whole body, including her face. Her look has generated a series of hilarious memes in no time, once again catalyzing the attention of viewers and the web.
And last year, Kim Kardashian made an even riskier choice. The socialite wore the designer Jean Louis gown that Marilyn Monroe wore in 1962 to sing “Happy Birthday, Mr. President” to John F. Kennedy. Many – including stylist Bob Mackie, who worked for Jean Louis and designed the dress – said Kim shouldn’t have worn the dress to preserve it. The entrepreneur was at the center of public indignation when she was accused of having damaged the seams, after a diet that led her to lose 7 kg to wear it. With Karl Lagerfeld as the main theme of the event, we just have to wait to find out what wonderful creation Kim will be wearing this year.
