According to reports from “Deadline”, the iconic series “Baywarch” may be ready to return to the small screen. As reported by some sources to the portal, in fact, it seems that Fremantle has entered into preliminary negotiations with some networks and streaming platforms as we arrive at the production of the remake of one of the most popular TV series of the 80s and 90s. “Baywatch” is known to have had complications related to the rights, held by Fremantle itself after All American Television was included in Pearson, which became Fremantle. However, Beta held the distribution rights until 2018, the year in which Fremantle still took over.

Rumors of a possible remake of the series had already started spreading around 2017 when a film centered around the famous story was released starring Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, and Priyanka Chopra among its leads. The dubious reviews that the film received, however, seemed at the time to have also put the hypothesis of a new series on hold, as also revealed by the COO of Fremantle International, Bob McCourt, who always told “Deadline”: «I think that we thought the movie might give us a reason to reboot the TV series, but given the mixed reviews it didn’t happen right away.”
